John McCahill, Chief Executive Officer | Chairman of the Board
John McCahill has been employed in the medical aesthetics market for the past eighteen years throughout North America. Most recently he founded Basis Medical Corporation, a global distribution and development platform for novel medical and aesthetic products. Formerly, he was the General Manager of Inamed Canada Ltd (acquired by Allergan in 2005), a world leader in breast and facial aesthetics products, where he led the organization from its post-merger infancy to a dominant position in the aesthetic marketplace. John started at Collagen Corporation in 1995, managing territories in Western Canada, New England, and SE USA. Through his understanding of the industry and extensive contacts worldwide, he is able to recognize and access innovative and undervalued technology. John's experience, success and reputation within the aesthetic surgery market has been instrumental in establishing Basis and its brands as a strong market force.
William (Bill) Jackson | President and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. William (Bill) Jackson is a successful entrepreneur who has been involved in transforming various 'start-up' companies into market leaders, and specializes in building business relationships, strategic partnerships and sales. Mr. Jackson co-founded Covalon Technologies Ltd. (formerly UroTeq Inc.) in 1999 and served as its Chief Business Officer since December 2007 and served as its Chief Financial Officer from October 2009 to December 2012. Mr. Jackson was responsible for business development, marketing and sales, vendor and customer contracts, out-licensing and in-licensing transactions and acquisitions. Prior to Covalon, Mr. Jackson has over fifteen years of experience working in the development and sale of medical devices. His experience includes sales with Karl Storz Endoscopy Inc. (as the first agent to grow his territory by $1,000,000 in the first year) and Stryker Corporation (as a member of the President's Council and as a top ten sales performer). Mr. Jackson co-founded Quick Stitch Ltd. (an innovative clothing repair franchise) and served as its President. He also co-founded Preferred Medical Products Inc. (a start-up catheter manufacturing company sold to Ballard Medical Products) and served as Vice-President, Finance for TIME Process Inc. (a business focused on the development of technology for advanced metal fusion). He also served as a Director of Titan Medical Inc. from 2008 to June 8, 2010. Mr. Jackson holds an Honours Business Administration and a Post-Graduate Accounting degree from University of Western Ontario, and received his Chartered Accountant designation, having articled with Thorne Riddell (Peat Marwick Thorne).
Alena Voloboeva, BA, M.Ed, CGA, ACCA, CertIFR, | Financial Controller
Alena joined Basis Medical Technologies as Sr. Accountant in August, 2008. Promoted to Controller in March, 2010, Alena is responsible for executing all of the company’s internal and external reporting as well as ensuring that these documents comply with GAAP. Additionally, she assumes responsibility for overseeing regulatory compliance for Basis and our products, as well as the establishment and management of Basis’ financial policies, procedures, contracts, and reporting systems.
