John McCahill, Chief Executive Officer | Chairman of the Board
John has been employed in the medical aesthetics market for the past thirteen years throughout North America. Most recently he founded Basis Medical Corporation, a company holding the global exclusive rights to Polymekon Srl products. Formerly, he was the General Manager of Inamed Canada Ltd, a world leader in breast and facial aesthetics products, where he lead the organisation from its post-merger infancy to a dominant position in the aesthetic marketplace. John started at Collagen Corporation in 1995. Through his understanding of the industry and extensive contacts worldwide, he is able to recognize and access innovative and undervalued technology. John’s experience, success and reputation within the aesthetic surgery market will be instrumental in establishing Basis and its brands as a strong market force.
Kam Shah, CA, CPA | Chief Financial Officer
Kam Shah joined the Basis as a Chief Financial Officer in April, 2007. Kam brings a wealth of corporate financial and business insight from his previous positions held at Price Waterhouse Coopers LLP and Ernst & Young where he was a senior auditor. Kam is a US Certified Public Accountant and a Canadian Chartered Accountant. He has over fifteen years of international experience in corporate financial analysis, mergers & acquisitions. Mr. Shah is responsible for the financial and statutory matters of the Company.
Scott McDowell, | Executive V.P., Business Development
Scott has been employed in the medical aesthetics market for the past 18 years. He has been involved in cosmetic lasers for the last 10 years as both a distributor and Director of Sales for reputable Canadian distributors featuring leading brand name lasers.
Previous to that, Scott held senior management positions for Mentor Medical Systems Canada. This provided him with extensive knowledge in the fields of ophthalmology, urology and cosmetic plastic surgery. Having been one of the original employees to the company, Scott helped grow the company to be the largest cosmetic plastic surgery companies in Canada.
Scott’s experience in the cosmetic surgery industry and understanding of the distribution business model will help provide Basis and its distribution partners valuable support in developing existing and new markets for our technologies.
Frank DeLustro Ph.D, Executive V.P., Scientific Affairs | Director
Frank has extensive experience in the medical device industry including executive postings with Collagen Corporation, the original ‘gold standard’ filler, Cohesion Technologies, and NeuColl. Frank has managed a consulting business working with leading medical device companies for the last 6 years. Frank has been appointed as a valued member of Basis’ Board of Directors, having had vast experience with other Boards in the industry.

James Roberts, | Director, Commercial Development
James Roberts joined Basis as Director of Commercial Development in October, 2008. James brings to Basis expertise in international business, business development, sales and operations. With over 12 years in the IT industry, James has garnered extensive experience and a solid reputation. His previous positions are varied, progressive and include: Director of Chief Components Ltd., V.P. of Operations Fulcrum Electronics USA and Business Development Manager of RealNet Canada Inc. In these roles, James has proven himself to have superior skills in senior level sales and business development and is eager to apply these to his work in the medical device industry.
James' knowledge, experience and ambition will enable Basis to pursue new markets for its technologies and provide a greater level of service to our distribution channel and client base.
Anna-Jean (A.J.) Lloyd | Manager, Marketing and Communications
A.J. has an Honors B.A. from the University of Toronto. She has been involved in marketing for medical aesthetics and clinical enterprises and brings the experience of both these fields to her work at Basis.
A.J. will be responsible for developing and refining sales and marketing tools for our distributor partners, help encourage and coordinate global training workshops, and develop product awareness programs for our technologies.
Alena Voloboeva, BA, M.Ed | Controller
Over five years of bookkeeping, accounting and auditing experience, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Chuvash State University and three-year degree from Delaware Technical and Community college (major: Accounting), pace level CGA student and in further pursuit of the full CGA designation.
